Unity in the Community - A Mural in Teralta Park

For the past five years, the Alliance has worked with City Heights residents and community leaders to design and create a mural in Teralta Park. The mural, titled Unity in the Community was conceived with input from hundreds of City Heights residents.

We are so close to realizing our goal but have one final hurdle to overcome: Caltrans' approval to use the community's chosen words in the art.

KPBS and the Media Arts Center San Diego visited the Teralta Park team and spoke with Maria Cortez, Dan Tomsky, and Linda Sheridan to learn more about the story.

We got the grant! California Arts Council awards SDCAA JUMP StArts grant

The California Arts Council today announced an investment of more than $24.5 million that will fund arts and culture throughout the state. The San Diego Cultural Arts Alliance is proud to be one of the recipients chosen for the JUMP StArts grant program.

With this grant, SDCAA will be able to implement two sessions of the Diversionary Graffiti Education & Mural Arts Program to a variety of youth at risk. The program partnership with the District Attorney’s office, San Diego County Sheriff, San Diego Police Department, and the San Diego County Probation Department is designed to provide early intervention to deter juvenile offenders from further involvement in the justice system.
