Redirection only happens when you can provide another avenue for a child's expression.
By providing instructors who can relate and teach, we give kids the skills to turn their lives around.
Art is a vehicle of change, and especially so for kids. Graffiti art connects with at risk youth.
San Diego Cultural Arts Alliance (The Alliance) has a special relationship with local law enforcement, based on mutual understanding and a desire to do what is best for our kids and this city. Together we are pioneering a new way to redirect vulnerable youth, one that involves mentoring, correction, and redirection. This model has proved to be incredibly effective.
WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT
If you take a moment to read the messages scrawled on the undersides of bridges, and on fences and concrete walls, you will see gang messages. But that's not all you will see, because not everyone who grabs a can of spray paint and vandalizes property is a hardened criminal. Often times, the messages you will see are left by kids who are on the brink of throwing their lives away.
CRIME OR A CALL FOR HELP?

A kid with a can of spray paint can be a criminal or an artist. We are in the business of inspiring artists! See their work here.
